Early detection of oral cancer

Oral cancer is one of the few cancers that have not experienced a significant decrease in the mortality rate over the past 30 years.  Often discovered at an advanced stage, it can be too late if not treated earlier.

Risk factors

The risk factors include the consumption of tobacco products, excessive alcohol consumption, repeated exposure to the sun, poor nutrition, genetic predispositions, etc.

Combined with conventional oral examination, VELscope helps us to detect abnormalities that were more difficult to see with the naked eye.  Unless you are a smoker, we recommend a yearly screening from the age of 16.
